These instruments are necessary for proper instrumentation of our school band. They are often considerably more expensive and many of them are not frequently purchased by parents or students. Parents and students interested in renting one (or more) of the available instruments for a semester or for a year will be required to pay the following fees which may be adjusted annually based on costs (note - this fee is NOT part of the band class fee): Students who rent a school instrument for marching band only (June-October) = $35 Students who rent a school instrument for concert band only (October-May) = $40 Students who rent a school instrument for both sessions = $75 Percussionists will be assessed the fee for the entire year for use of all percussion (concert and marching) = $75 All rental fees will be billed to the student's band account. Rationale: Using school owned instruments is a benefit to parents who do not want to, or cannot afford to purchase an instrument. Furthermore, it is a benefit to Dowling Catholic to have full instrumentation. Fees help to partially offset the costs of instrument purchase and normal maintenance. Responsibility/liability: In renting an instrument from the school, the student and parent/guardian accept responsibility/liability for the instrument including and maintaining the instrument in good condition except for normal wear. In the event that an instrument is damaged, the parent/guardian will be responsible for all repairs beyond the rental fee - up to and including full replacement of the instrument.
